Show me the money!

If I knew how to do a backflip, I would...right off of my NEW roof. That's right, we are on our way to getting an all new roof!

Today our insurance company sent out their "Catastrophe" claims adjuster and her manager and after a couple of hours spent examining our shoddy roof and the all of the damage that occurred almost a year ago, they told us they were going to give us the money for an all new one because "it is the right thing to do." Actually, the "right thing to do" would have been to have totalled it out last year. I'm not complaining; I'm just saying...

Anyway, they will be cutting the check tomorrow and our roofer will start in a month or so when he and his crew won't instantaneously melt.

Until then, I have to choose house colors, roof colors and whether or not to build a front porch.

w00t! Most excellent news. I'd say build the porch, because while the bulk of the expense may be in the brick work for it, it's a lot easier (and cheaper) for the roofing part of it to do it now.

Yipee! Glad for you and the new roof, whew, don't we hate drawn out ordeals like that but glad you have the go ahead. I'd say, do the porch. You will never regret it if you do but could regret it if you let your chance slip by. Porches are a great place for afternoon tea or morning coffee and waving at the neighbors. Do it.
